GPlay came out on top of an online tournament called New Year Invitational following a 3-2 win versus aimface (9-16 de_nuke, 3-16 de_mirage, 16-12 de_dust2, 16-4 de_cache). Four teams took part in the New Year Invitational, three Balkan sides GPlay, volgare, aimface were joined by the German team myRevenge led by Robin "r0bs3n" Stephan to fight for $500 split between top two teams. The tournament was played in a best-of-three double elimination bracket with the grand final played best-of-five. GPlay started off with a 2-1 win after facing volgare, while myRevenge got the better of aimface to advance to the upper bracket final. There it was the Bulgarians who scraped through after they split the first two one-sided maps before GPlay emerged victorious thanks to a close 16-13 scoreline on de_cache.
In the lower bracket, aimface took out volgare in an easy manner before facing myRevenge once again in the consolidation final. That time aimface were the better side, as they proceeded to the grand final despite losing the first map. It looked like aimface continued their successful run on the first two maps, de_nuke and de_mirage, as GPlay weren't able to get more than twelve rounds in total on the two. The Bulgarian side came back on de_dust2 and de_cache though, getting the $350 first place prize thanks to a one-map advantage due to coming from the winner bracket. New Year InvitationalBest of 4
