HellRaisers and Virtus.pro kicked off the SL i-League Invitational #1 with victories as the former beat SK 2-0 (16-5 on Cache and 16-5 on Overpass) and the latter defeated Worst Players 2-1 (16-5 on Mirage, 17-19 on Cache, 16-13 on Cobblestone). One of the opening matches was between Virtus.pro and Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev's new team Worst Players. Mirage was a blowout as the Poles, led by Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas's 1.81 rating, secured map with a 16-5 score. Cache started out better for the Ukrainians who finished their T-side with a 8-7 lead. They were also able to pick up the first five rounds of their CT-half but Virtus.pro went into plow mode and came back from a 9-14 deficit to take it to overtime as the regulation ended 15-15.
Virtus.pro grabbed the first round of overtime and they were in front 17-16 at the end of the first half in overtime. Things turned around for Worst Players though and they were able to win the map 19-17. The squads met on Cobblestone to decide the winner of the series and Worst Players had the same lead at halftime as they did on Cache (8-7). Although they had a better start to the half, the Ukrainians could not retain their lead and Virtus.pro secured the map with a 16-13 score, winning the series 2-1. The #12 team in the world, HellRaisers, faced SK who are number #19, in a best-of-three series. The maps for the match in Kiev were Cache, Overpass and Mirage. The first map, Cache, kicked off with a dominating performance by HellRaisers as Martin "STYKO" Styk dominated the match. A 13-2 CT-side assured a map victory for Kirill "ANGE1" Karasiow & company and they capitalized on this advantage by taking the map 16-5.
The story of the second map was no different as Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný went berserk, finishing with a 29:8 score, a 123.2 ADR and a 2.21 rating. The final score on Overpass was the same as the first map as HellRaisers won it 16-5 and closed out the series 2-0. SL i-League Invitational #1Best of 3
